About ARIS

ARIS, short for the Aviation Research and Innovation Strategy, represents a joint call from a broad spectrum of European aviation stakeholders. They are urging the European Commission to incorporate the strategy into future research, industrial, and investment frameworks for the 2028–2034 period, to ensure Europe maintains its position as a global leader in aviation.

ARIS calls for investment in three strategic areas:

Next-generation aircraft technologies
Efficient air traffic management
Cutting-edge enablers such as advanced manufacturing and maintenance, digitalisation, and workforce upskilling

To achieve impact, support is needed across the entire innovation pipeline — from early-stage research to commercial deployment.

The strategy has been formally presented to Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, during the Paris Air Show.
